Santa Claus visits Merlin Woods

We got such a great surprise on Friday when Múinteoir Paula called us all to the hall for a special visitor. We could not believe our eyes when Santa arrived. We sang lovely Christmas songs for him and he said we were all very good!!
Santa read us a story about "The Night before Christmas" and gave us all Lollipops. He said he will be flying by Merlin Woods on Christmas Eve with presents for everyone. We cannot wait!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

We couldn't believe it when we received a letter from Santa to say he had sent us one of his apprentice elves from the North Pole on the 1st of December. We had to look around the classroom carefully as he loves to hide and play tricks on us. Every night he flies back to the North Pole to tell Santa how good we are. Elfie has sent us some special treats and even sent three children a special note. We cant wait to see what other tricks he has up his sleeve before Christmas.

Aistear: This month our theme is the Doctor. We have been learning all about the doctor, what he does and the different instruments he uses. We have taken X-Rays and bandaged up patients.

We have also been busy writing letters and cards in our Christmas post office and designing Santa's workshop with lego.

Dancing Stars:
Congratulations to Aine & Matylda who both won trophies and medals at recent Irish Dancing competitions. We are so proud of ye girls. Well done :)

Friday 1st December

We have been practising our running, skipping, hopping & jumping skills in PE this week.

We are learning all about Winter- how the weather changes, days get shorter and some animals hibernate. We painted beautiful snowmen and gave them nice woolly hats and scarves.

Elfie Arrives :)
On Friday December 1st we had a very special arrival in Junior Infants. The postman delivered a parcel all the way from  the North Pole. We were so excited- our very own class elf had arrived. We decided to call him Elfie! Can you see him hiding in the pictures. Every night he flies back to the North Pole to tell Santa how good we have all been. He loves to play tricks on us & brought us some yummy treats.

10 Stars
We won our 10th star for lining up nicely outside at lunch time this week. Múinteoir Paula allows every class to have a party when they get 10. We have been working on getting our stars since September! We watched a lovely movie about Rudolph and ate yummy popcorn. It was a real treat :)

Liam Mc Carty Cup visits Merlin Woods
Members of the Galway  & Castlegar Hurling teams visited our school on Wednesday. We got to see the Liam Mc Carty Cup which Galway won in September and 10 other cups that Castlegar had won this year.

Sports Day

We had a great Sports Day in Merlin Woods. We loved all the races and activities from spud and spoon, dress-up races, water races, sack...
